Project
BASIC, founded
in 1985, serves elementary students in 39 counties in Tennessee.
Project BASIC is funded by the Department of Mental Health and Developmental
Disabilities.
The coping skills, self-confidence and problem-solving
skills developed by the BASIC program will help students make GOOD
choices throughout their lives.

Program
Focus
Project BASIC serves schools in five counties
through a partnership with Frontier Health: Carter, Greene,
Hancock, and Hawkins.
The Child
Development Specialist provides classroom presentations that target
appropriate expression of feelings, social skills, conflict resolution,
and problem-solving skills.
The Child
Development Specialist also provides teachers support with students
experiencing difficulties, and assists in developing a plan to help
the child overcome them and succeed.
Project BASIC offers education and support to
families in finding and accessing appropriate services for their
children. Through these services, Project BASIC strives to provide
students, school staff and families with the tools to promote better
attitudes and skills in children.
Interested parents may contact Project BASIC through your child’s
school.
