Mother-Child
Connection offers treatment through offices in Bristol,
Johnson
City and Kingsport
to pregnant, substance-abusing women or mothers with infant
children and links to other community resources to help them abstain
from the use of alcohol or drugs and achieve a higher quality life.

Direct
Services
Women and their families receive:
• Intensive substance abuse treatment.
• Individual, group and family therapy.
• Treatment geared toward women’s needs
relating to sexuality, relationships, domestic
violence and all forms of victimization.
• Leisure skills development.
• Nutritional counseling.
• Home-based interventions for the whole
family.
• Parent training for multi-age groups.
• Assistance accessing community resources
including food stamps, WIC, Families First and
housing.
• Transportation services.
• Child care.
Community Links
Resources include referrals to:
• Comprehensive medical/obstetrical services.
• Vocational: employment counseling, compiling
resumes and job placement.
• Educational: General Equivalency Diploma
(G.E.D.) and higher education.
• Pediatric follow-up and early intervention
services.
Eligibility
A woman must:
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Pregnant or have an infant child.
• Have a substance abuse problem.
• Be willing to abide by program rules.
• Be willing to participate in scheduled program
activities.
• Attend program regularly.
• Follow your treatment plan.
• Be a current Tennessee resident.
Admission Priority
A woman who is:
• A pregnant IV drug user.
• A Pregnant substance abuser.
• All other substance abusing women.
