Crisis Stabilization Unit Opens in Region

Crisis Stabilization Unit

to Provide Short-Term Services

for Mental Health Crises

  Frontier Health opened its Crisis Stabilization Unit to provide a critical resource in Northeast Tennessee.

   The 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Unit opened in late April, providing short-term stabilization services for individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Kelly Haught Becomes Division Director  

  Frontier Health announces the appointment of Kelly S. Haught, LPC-MHSP, as the Division Director of Specialty Services. Haught will oversee the new Crisis Stabilization Unit, Mobile Crisis Response, Magnolia Ridge Alcohol & Drug Residential Treatment Center, and Willow Ridge that serves individuals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

  “I am very pleased to have Kelly as the new division director of Specialty Services,” said Randy Jessee, Senior Vice President of Specialty Services. “She has proven herself to be a fine leader and representative of Frontier Health values. I look forward to continuing our work together.”

Ticket to Work

   Frontier Health is a Ticket to Work Employment Network. Ticket to Work provides disability beneficiaries choices for receiving employment services in order to return to work. Beneficiaries can choose the employment network they use.

Suicide Prevention

  Death by suicide is one of the greatest health risks in Tennessee and Virginia. More than 775,000 Americans attempt to die by suicide each year. Suicide affects people of all ages, races, and socioeconomic groups.

  In Virginia, 1 out of every 12 high school students (8 percent) indiciated suicide attempts in the last 12 months. In 2003, suicide was the 9th leading cause of death in Tennessee.

Things to Remember:

• 70% of people who die by suicide tell
  someone first

• Those with serious attemps at death
  by suicide are at much higher risk

• Nearly 50% of victims who die by
  suicide have a positive blood alcohol
  level

• Although most depressed people are
  not suicidal, most suicidal people are
  depressed

  All across the country millions of Americans are impacted but recovery is possible. Many are achieving a lifestyle free of drugs and alcohol. Self-help groups such as A.A., N.A.
    Research shows the rate of recovery is significantly greater when an individual's family, friends and community are involved. Individuals in recovery are themselves an example to others and can offer insight, motivation, support and hope that recovery is possible.
